Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, a luxury five-star retreat with Michelin star dining, near Windermere, has been awarded ‘Best in the North’ in the Good Hotel Guide César Awards.
The Guide describes Gilpin as “Lakeland luxury at its finest”, and continues “with its Michelin-starred dining, private hot tubs in the majority of its indulgent rooms and attentive staff. Its flagship rooms are extravagantly large glass-cube spa suites that extend over a pond and offer private garden, spa room and circular bath.”
While a recent write-up of the winners, by renowned travel journalist and editor of the Good Hotel Guide, Jane Knight said: “If you’re not wowed by the spa suites and lodges with their own sauna, steam room and outdoor hot tub, you will be bowled over by Ollie Bridgwater’s innovative cooking in Michelin-starred SOURCE.”
The “Good Hotel Guide César Awards” are annual awards given by the independent Good Hotel Guide to the top hotels, B&Bs and inns in Great Britain and Ireland, recognising consistent excellence. Named after hotelier César Ritz, these awards are considered a high honour in the hotel industry and are sometimes called the “Oscars of hotel keeping”. Winners are selected based on reader reports and editorial review.
