A technology firm that can trace its roots from Silicon Valley and the famous Le Mans 24-hour car race has chosen to open its new headquarters in Oldham Town Centre.
SAFA Technology’s new contact centre is in Manchester Chambers – thanks to help from Oldham Council’s Town Centre Team – and the people running it are keen to invest in the local community and economy.
The firm offers design, imagineering and digital technology services for businesses all under one roof – meaning clients can turn their ideas into real products.
Liaquat Ali, one of the co-founders of the firm, explains: “Our services ensure even technophobes can be supported from the very embryonic stages through to production.
“For example, our e-commerce services mean all the retailer has to do is put a label on, we do all the hard work – we make it as simple as that for the client.
“There are companies offering service components but none supply a comprehensive service with single point of contact.
“At SAFA Technology we stimulate our clients business, securing their future in the new digital economy.”
Liaquat added that the company already boasts an impressive client list including Premier Foods and high-end German car manufacturers.
Liaquat and his fellow directors Khalid Khan, Shahid Saleem and Khurram Khan have worked around the world. Their CVs include time spent working on smartphones in Silicon Valley through to design work on high end sports cars.
The firm is now working closely with the council’s Get Oldham Working team to recruit 14 full time workers – and there are hopes further positions will be created in the future.
Councillor Jim McMahon, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “The opening of SAFA’s new base in Oldham town centre is the result of more than a year’s work behind the scenes by our Town Centre Team.
“The firm’s directors were considering a number of different locations but we convinced them to come to Oldham. The town’s good Metrolink connections and the property options available all played a part in their decision.
