Stem, a new home wine delivery service designed to help customers learn about wine and experience new flavour profiles from around the world has launched on HOME-X

The new at-home wine experience, intended to be shared with friends or family, was developed to facilitate discussions around the drink and to help inform its fans about the various differences between wine varieties.

Stem Wine Club will bring customers five bespoke half bottles (375ml) of wines for £55, complete with a guide to wine tasting and two carefully matched fresh recipes from Chef Andy Temple.

Each wine is full in flavour & enjoyment, but half the size to enable customers to try a wider variety. The contents of the box will change each month and will be available for nationwide delivery.

A wine novice, a connoisseur or someone who wants to try something new, Stem Wine Club has been designed to create a fun and relaxing way for consumers to immerse themselves in wine tasting.

The team at Stem will work closely with wine suppliers and directly with vineyards across the world to bring top quality wines direct to customers homes.

Within each box there will be five half bottles of wine, plus an easy to follow guide which breaks down the basics of the wine, with clear flavour profiles alongside a short introduction to each bottle, including information on why they taste or look the way they do. There will also be handy tips to enable drinkers to identify characteristics in wine.

The first box, which will be available for delivery from December 2nd will include a mixture of red and white wines, including Domaine Michel Girard, Sancerre – a delicate and crisp white wine. Proof of how diverse Sauvignon Blanc can be as opposed to the typical Marlborough style. Crisp and fresh with hints of almond, pear and citrus; Louis Jadot, Macon Villages – a chardonnay that will change the opinion of even the biggest chardonnay haters with notes of green apple, honey and oak; Villa la Pagliaia, Chianti Classico – a bold chianti with strong fruit flavours – raspberry, cherry with a hint of black pepper.

The boldness comes from the 95% Sangiovese and blended with a touch of Merlot; Cave de Tain, Crozes-Hermitage, Nobles Rives – a rich and velvety Syrah from Northern Rhone. A full bodied red with notes of blackcurrant, vanilla, charcoal and finally C.V.N.E Cune Rioja Crianza – a young and fruity Rioja with prominent plumb notes. Not too rich for those who are introducing themselves to red wine; Tempranillo blended with Garnacha and Mazuelo.

Curated by wine enthusiast and chief operations officer at Six by Nico restaurants, Rachael Rafferty, each bottle is carefully selected for everyday people who enjoy a glass of wine, to encourage them to try new and interesting variations, and give more insight into the process behind each bottle’s creation.

Stem allows for this experience to become more than just having a few glasses on the couch. The guide provided with each box is a conversation point, and a chance to create a passion and understanding for something new, and bringing people together.

With every box, customers will also get a recipe card with two recipes created by Six by Nico executive chef Andy Temple. There will be a recipe for an easy midweek dinner, plus a more luxurious weekend meal to enjoy at home, alongside that month’s wine selection.

The experience will launch on the new e-commerce platform, HOME-X, which brings restaurant-quality food and drink experiences to homes across the UK.

“Wine has been a passion of mine for a few years now, and the idea for Stem wine club came from my experience working in hospitality. Wine can be deemed as a daunting subject, and I want to eliminate this by giving Stem customers an approachable and understandable guide on how to detect certain characteristics of wine, and more confidence in being able to decide which qualities they do or don’t like.

This, is what I believe, will set Stem apart from other wine clubs as it gives our customers the opportunity to try new wines, and build a portfolio of knowledge from the ground up. Starting out in hospitality I knew very little about wine, and my love affair with wine definitely came from being able to understand it as it gave me such an appreciation for how diverse it can be. I aim to bring Stem customers on that journey to fall in love with wine in the same way that I did”.
