Guaranteeing mid-week fun for local families during the Easter break, Manchester’s Printworks is bringing a one-day, free-to-take-part gaming event to its brand-new gaming screen, where visitors can kick-back on beanbags and battle it out to win a range of fun prizes.

Taking place on Thursday 4 April from 12pm – 4pm in the Pumpyard area of Printworks, the multi-player event will be presented by Printworks’ very own gaming referee, Chris Dresden, who will be encouraging visitors of all ages to use their smartphones to compete in two easy-to-play, interactive games, accepting between 30 and 100 players at a time.

Created by Manchester-based, crowd gaming specialists, Piing, the games will be played on Printworks’ new gaming screen with visitors using their smartphones as a gaming controller. There’s no app to download, visitors just need to scan the QR code on the big screen to join and play.

Gamers can try out Rebound, a ping pong game where players aim to keep the ball on the court, and Buggy Race, where gamers can steer around the islands and chicanes in a fast-paced F1-style race game.

A new gaming challenge will take place every 15 – 30 minutes, with the winner of each round able to select a fantastic prize from Printworks’ lucky dip, including vouchers for Printworks’ restaurants and leisure destinations, chocolate fountains, footballs, Printworks selfie stickers and lots more.

Kristian Brennan, Marketing Manager at Printworks, said: “We’re so excited to host our first gaming event here at Printworks on our new gaming screen. As part of the recent relaunch following our extensive refurbishment, this gaming event will not only bring free fun for families during the Easter break, but will also offer an experience like no other, where they will be surrounded by mesmerising content on our giant digital ceiling.”

Following a £21m refurbishment, Printworks has recently relaunched as a ‘World of Entertainment’. The digital-first entertainment venue is home to the largest digital ceiling in Europe which has transformed the internal streets into a stunning experience of light and sound. With a variety of free content scheduled to run over the next year, families will be able to marvel at stunning ‘Out of Space’ scenes over the Easter break.

Families can also take advantage of a variety of half term offers with Printworks’ popular venues over the next two weeks, including Easter menus with Chiquito and Frankie & Benny’s, free face painting and balloon modelling events on weekdays with Treetop Golf and lots more.
