As we head towards the festive season, November is always a great month to enjoy so much entertainment in Manchester and this year is no different. Here are four things you can look to get involved in as we approach the back end of 2018.

1. Belle Vue Greyhounds

If you enjoy having a flutter on your night out, a visit to Belle Vue greyhounds could be perfect for you in November. The track hold racing every Saturday night where the doors open at 6.30pm and the first race takes place at 7.20pm. Prices vary depending on the type of ticket you want to purchase. General admission starts from just £6, while you can book a meal in the restaurant, which includes entrance to the track, from as little as £32. If you fancy a bet on the action, you can take a look at the card and greyhound odds before you arrive so you have something to cheer for during the evening.

2. Christmas Lights Switch-On

On November 3, the Christmas lights will be switched on in Manchester, which will officially mark the start of the festive season in the city. The event is hosted by Hits Radio and is free to attend. Jonas Blue and Max George are the headline acts slated to be performing on stage during the evening, however, there will be all kinds of activities to get involved in. Unfortunately, it is an alcohol-free event but there are various bars and pubs open in and around the city for you to enjoy a drink before or after the entertainment.

3. Christmas Market Stalls

The Christmas market stalls return to Albert Square on November 9 and remain there until December 23. The market will feature a range of different food and drinks from around the world and there will be various crafters selling lots of items which can be purchased as a gift for your loved ones this Christmas. With opening hours stretching deep into the evening, the Christmas market is a great way to spend your night with friends whether you just fancy a drink or a walk around the square.

4. Manchester Derby

The hottest ticket in November is for the Manchester Derby when City take on United at the Etihad Stadium on November 11. Whether you are a red, blue or neutral, it is the one game every football fan in Manchester will want to be at. City have made a fantastic start to their Premier League title defence and remain unbeaten in the league. United, on the other hand, have had a mixed set of results, but they did have a fantastic 3-2 victory over Newcastle just before the international break where they came from 2-0 down to win the game. In this fixture last season, United won 3-2 in a classic encounter and there could be fireworks again in this latest instalment of the Manchester Derby.

Wrap up warm throughout these events, be safe and enjoy all the fantastic entertainment within the city.
