Pantomime season is with us and Bury Met in association with The Big Tiny have produced one of the all time classics Aladdin writes Paul Smalley

All the characters are here Aladdin (Shahar Mizrahi), Jasmine (Thea Day), Widow Twanky(Neil Jennings), Wishee Washie (Daniel Craig-Solomon), Abanazar(Ian Hayles), Empress/Sargent Pepper (Leni Murphy), Genie/ PC World (Aimee Louise Bevan).

The music is a complete variety of sounds from ELO to Madness, Oasis to Dolly Parton all integrated into a pure energetic pantomime.

Yes we have water guns, sweets thrown to the crowd, magical flying carpet, magic lamp, a Genie, a villainous Abanazar who in traditional pantomime season is booed gleefully by the audience at every appearance.

Audience participation is energetic and they join in at every request from the cast and sometimes without their encouragement.

Some are involved after just being singled out, well done Michael even though you didn’t have to leave your seat.

The performance is full of all you’d expect, laugh out loud comedy, wonderful costumes, innuendo and slapstick.
There is even one scene where our princess can’t contain herself and breaks into unscripted laughter at what’s going on, unprofessional in something more serious, yes, but here on such a fun filled evening who cares, certainly the audience don’t and neither do the cast who seem ready to go themselves.

All performances are excellent and all have their moments with Wishee Washie outstanding, but even he is overshadowed by the superb and hilarious Widow Twanky.

This is pure family Christmas entertainment and everything you want for a fun filled two and a half hours(including interval), take the family and enjoy.

Various performances untill 26th December.
