Nigel Farage has said that welfare will be for UK citizens only under a Reform government.
The Reform UK leader said, “we are here to make massive future cuts to welfare” and that under his government, it would be for “for UK citizens only”.
In a wide ranging press conference in London he said that Reform will scrap Indefinite Leave to remain and introduce 5-year renewable visas, with citizenship only after 7 years of proven contribution.
He warned that nearly a million migrants from the “Boris wave” are set to qualify, bringing dependants and claiming full benefits.
Farage defended banning dependants for migrant care workers, saying it’s wrong to prioritise foreign families over British taxpayers struggling to access GPs.

The Chancellor Rachel Reeves described the plans to cut benefits from hundreds of thousands of legal immigrants and deport them if needed as “simple gimmicks … that have no basis in reality and where the numbers just fall apart.”
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey said Farage was “borrowing from Trump’s America.” and Shadow Home Sec Chris Philp said the plans were “half-baked and unworkable
