The family of a mother who died in Oldham a week ago have paid tribute to her.

Susan Booth, aged 62, was reported to have suffered serious injuries on Hillside Avenue in the Shaw area on the evening of Tuesday 4 May and was sadly pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.

Paying tribute to Susan, her family said: “We, as a family, are devastated to confirm the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt, Susan Booth on Tuesday 4 May 2021.

“Mum was the epitome of caring, both in her professional and personal life.

“If you knew her, you would have known that nothing was too much trouble, and she would help anyone who needed it.

“She was dedicated to her three grandchildren, who were the light of her life and will be deeply missed by all of us.

“We thank everyone for their sympathy and ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

A much-loved healthcare assistant of over two decades at Royal Oldham Hospital, her colleagues also paid tribute to her. Karen Coverley, Director of Nursing at The Royal Oldham Hospital, said:

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of our colleague Susan.

“Susan was a long-standing and very popular member of our team at Oldham and will be sadly missed.

“She was extremely well liked by colleagues and patients alike, and always so caring and compassionate in what she did, nothing was too much trouble.

“Our thoughts are with Susan’s family, friends and close colleagues at this difficult time. We are offering support for our staff who worked with her.”

Stephen Booth 63, of Churchfields, Audenshaw, was arrested and subsequently charged with Susan’s murder.

He has been remanded to custody and is next due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday 2 July.
