Track replacement, along with other works to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the network, will take place near to the Cornbrook stop for a 54-hour period starting from 1:30am on Saturday 15 May.

This work will take place up to the first tram in service on Monday 17 May and will affect the following Metrolink lines during that period, with replacement bus services operating and calling at all stops:

  • Eccles Line – full closure
  • Trafford Park Line – full closure
  • Altrincham Line – services will terminate at Old Trafford
  • East Didsbury Line – services will terminate at Firswood
  • Airport Line – services will terminate at Firswood

Work is being done overnight on a weekend to minimise disruption to passengers and replacement buses will operate between Old Trafford and Piccadilly, Chorlton and Victoria and along both the Eccles and Trafford Park lines.

Signed pedestrian walking routes will be in place and Customer Service Representatives will be at stops to direct passengers to the nearest replacement bus stop.

Transport for Greater Manchester’s Head of Metrolink Danny Vaughan said: “We regularly carry out renewal work on Metrolink as part of a continued programme to maintain the safety and reliability of the network.

“Unfortunately, these works will mean some short-term inconvenience for some passengers that weekend and I’d encourage anyone travelling to plan their journey in advance and allow extra time where possible.”
