The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, is interested in buying Manchester United according to media reports.
He values the club below the Glazer family’s £6 billion price and there is recognition UEFA may have to agree to a regulation change as the country’s ruler already owns French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)
However, the bid is said to be from a separate group of investors, circumnavigating issues arising from a conflict of interest.
The Emir of Qatar, Sheik Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is head of its absolute monarchy, is reportedly a committed United fan who is well aware of the club’s history. His family are worth over £335 billion.
The Qatari investors will face opposition from Failsworth British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, whose company INEOS Group announced their intention to bid for Manchester United a few weeks ago.
