Police have launched an investigation and made an arrest after a 17-year-old boy was brutally stabbed in the street in Hulme yesterday evening.
The boy was attacked on Lingmoor Walk around 7.15 and was taken to hospital and received treatment to stab wounds to his upper body and legs, he is currently in a serious but stable condition.
A scene is now in place while forensic investigators scour the area.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently in police custody for questioning.
Officers are looking through CCTV around the time of the stabbing and appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Mark Astbury from GMP’s City of Manchester team said: “The victim is lucky to be alive after such a ferocious attack. His family are by his side and my thoughts are with them all.
“Our officers arrested an 18-year-old man this morning, but the investigation is only just beginning.
“This attack took place in an area filled with families and elderly residents, and last night children were out with their parents trick or treating, they have understandably have been left shaken by this.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or saw anyone running from the scene around that time to get in touch. I want to know exactly what happened and what lead up to last night’s events.
“Sadly the local residents have seen this type of violence before. I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all that we can to find those responsible for last night’s attack”
