A dog Walker is in a critical condition after being hit by a car which failed to stop in Middleton last night.

The 35-year-old pedestrian walking his dog on Hollin Lane where it was hit by a blue BMW around 9.15

A blue BMW 320 was later recovered in the Heywood area and a 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage or witnessed the incident is asked to contact police as soon as possible.

Detective Sergeant Marie Eldred, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man is fighting for his life after this serious incident and we are following all lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.

“We are hopeful that there are people who were in the area at the time who will have information about this collision that can help assist in our investigation.

“We are especially keen to speak to people who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage in the vicinity of Hollin Lane in the lead up or directly after the incident.”
