Manchester’s ultimate dining and leisure destination, Great Northern Warehouse has teamed up with Dez Rez Projects and revealed a brand new art installation in the window of 285 Deansgate from 21 March – 3 April.
The new display which has been created by Manchester based artist, Stefanie Trow, a recent contestant on Sky TV’s Landscape Artist of the Year programme, features beautiful landscape paintings of natural areas and overlooked green spaces in Manchester.
From the flooded woods of Didsbury’s Fletcher Moss, to a path leading down to the derelict BT Tower in Heaton Park, Stefanie’s artwork displays hidden nooks and reflective spots which she has discovered around her home city of Manchester.
Driven by her fascination of the natural world, human experience, and materiality of paint, Stefanie creates multi-layered paintings that centre on her own experiences of the world and landscape around her.
Trow’s brushwork gives way to movement, with intense bold colours pulled and scraped across the canvas, creating an expressive language of their own. The paint just about holds onto the image, creating an ebb and flow of reality, taken away sometimes by abstraction.
Trow studied Visual Arts at Salford University, graduating in 2004 and now lives and works in Manchester.
Her work is in numerous private collections and has been exhibited across the UK at galleries such as the Albemarle Gallery in London, Saul Hay Gallery and Comme Ca Gallery in Manchester and she is also an elected associate member of Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA).
The collaboration with Stefanie Trow is the next instalment of Watch this Space, a collaboration between Great Northern Warehouse and Dez Rez Projects to spotlight artists and creative businesses working in Greater Manchester.

Stefanie Trow commented, “All of the paintings featured are based on quiet reflective spots of overlooked beauty from across Manchester which I have discovered whilst out walking with my children or cycling to the studio from Prestwich to Ancoats.
Like trying to grasp a memory, parts of the paintings remain vivid, whilst others drip and slide away from us, pooling into a new reality, ready for the viewer to unearth.”
