A man in his 60’s has passed away after being involved in a Road Traffic Collision which took place yesterday (6th August).

In the evening the cyclist was turning onto Stamford Road when the collision with a silver van happened.

The cyclist was taken to hospital but unfortunately passed away a short time later despite the best efforts of the medical staff who treated him.

A 35 yeard old man was arrested due to suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs and remains in police custody.

“This is a tragic incident where a man has lost his life, and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the man at this incredibly sad time.

Our investigation remains ongoing and I would like to take this opportunity to ask anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact us as soon as possible. Did you see the vehicle or cyclist in the area at the time? Did you witness the collision?”
