Reports that a hotel in Weaste is being used for the housing of asylum seekers have been dismissed by both Salford Council and Greater Manchester Police
Claims made on social media over the weekend said that 40 migrants were spotted being escorted by the police into the Weaste hotel with another claiming that they had seen new mattresses taken into the hotel
However Salford Council issued a statement today saying that
“Along with Greater Manchester Police we’re aware of false information circulating online regarding a hotel in Salford.”
“There is no truth in these rumours and officers are advising people not to post false information online.”
“We will continue to work with our partners to keep Greater Manchester safe, and working with everyone in the community is central to achieving that.”
