THE Belle Vue Colts are kicking off 2024 with a bang after confirming the next two names in their Class of 2024, and it’s a big welcome back to Luke Muff and Jack Shimelt!
After spending two seasons with Mildenhall, Muff last year made the switch to Belle Vue where he became a firm favourite amongst the fans for his character and enthusiasm.
And though he found himself on the wrong side of injury on more than one occasion, his determination was contagious and his attitude towards the new season is no different.
Oldham racer Shimelt, meanwhile, is preparing for his full National Development League debut after being called into the Belle Vue side towards the end of the 2023 campaign.
A frequent participant of the Belle Vue Experience track days, he is ready to take the next step in his career and put all of the skills and advice he’s picked up so far to the real test.
Belle Vue CEO Mark Lemon said: “We’re delighted to welcome back both Luke and Jack to the National Speedway Stadium as part of our Belle Vue Colts team.
“We only saw a snapshot of what Luke is capable of last year. His enthusiasm for this club is great to see and hopefully with the injuries now behind him he will really start to flourish.
“Likewise for Jack, it is a big year for him. It’s his time to step up and make the next move in his development but we wouldn’t have handed him this chance if we didn’t believe he could do that.
“He has a brilliant attitude towards his racing and he fitted straight in with the team last season, and we’re very excited to see where 2024 will take him.
“We have only two more names to release before our Colts team is complete, and we strongly believe that the supporters will be as excited with our 1-7 as we are.”
