Coronation Street cast and local Manchester TV and radio presenters came out in style for the MAMMA MIA! press night held at the Palace Theatre last week.
The event marked the launch of the sensational feel-good show’s two-week run in the city from 3-14 July as part of its international tour before heading off on the international leg of the tour, stopping off at the likes of Hong Kong, Singapore and Toronto.
Coronation Street stars Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster), Ellie Leach (Faye Windass), newcomer Alexandra Mardell (Emma Brooker), Victoria Ekanoye (Angie Appleton) and Charlie de Melo (Imran Habeeb) all stopped to have their photo taken prior to watching Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise.
TV presenter Jenny Powell wowed the crowds in a beautiful powder blue evening gown to match the sky blue carpet and was perfectly in theme with the feel good musical’s summer setting, while CBBC and Radio 1 presenter Katie Thistleton was all smiles for the cameras after soaking up the Manchester sunshine in the city yesterday.
Hits Radio presenter Mike Toolan also came along with his children to enjoy the hit show, which to date has been seen by more than 60 million people in 50 productions in 16 different languages.
After the show, guests were treated to a Greek-themed party, with feta cheese, olives and falafels together with delicious MAMMA MIA! cupcakes from Manchester’s Hey Little Cupcake!
