During an operation led by the traffic PSCO’s, the male driver was caught doing 104mph on Albert Royds Street where the legal limit is 30mph.

Officers believe it is one of the highest speeds recorded for a Ford Sierra Cosworth.

Ronnie Neilson, Chief Inspector at GMP’s traffic unit said: “We regularly carry out mobile speed checks and will always listen to the public and our partners if they have concerns about a particular road or stretch of road.

“This is just one step towards tackling speeding and anti-social driving, it is our main priority to ensure we keep people safe on the city’s roads.

“GMP will not allow the safety of our roads to be threatened by dangerous drivers, and appropriate against will always be taken when offences are committed.”
