Manchester City head into the World Cup break well placed to mount a serious challenge for silverware when domestic football returns.

City are favourites with the bookmakers to win each of the four competitions they are contesting this season and it would be a brave move to back against them achieving the feat.

Plenty of fans will be willing to take advantage of this SkyBet sign-up offer to back them to finally break their duck in the Champions League this term.

Pep Guardiola’s side were unbeaten during the group stage and have landed a favourable draw against RB Leipzig in the round of 16.

They will undoubtedly fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals and look a good bet to mount a strong challenge for the title.

The data experts at FiveThirtyEight agree with that assessment, giving City a 20% chance of winning the 2022/23 Champions League.

Their most likely opponents are forecast to be Bayern Munich, who swept through the opening phase of the competition without dropping a point.

However, the German giants have drawn Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 and will not find it easy to get past the current Ligue 1 leaders.

FiveThirtyEight have backed City to emerge victorious in the Premier League, with current leaders Arsenal rated as the team most likely to chase them home.

The Gunners currently have a five point advantage over City after recording some hugely impressive results during the first third of the season.

While Mikel Arteta’s side look a good bet to qualify for the Champions League, City’s greater strength in depth should give them the edge in the title race.

The two teams are yet to face each in the EPL this season and those two meetings could go a long way in determining who claims top spot.

Away from the top two competitions, City made a good start in their bid to win the Carabao Cup for the seventh time in ten years.

A 2-0 home victory over Chelsea helped City ease into the fourth round. They will now meet Liverpool on December 22.

Both sides are unlikely to field their strongest line-ups given where the fixtures falls, but City look a good bet to see off Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds were fortunate to beat Derby County on penalties in the previous round and have struggled to produce their best form for most of the season.

Home advantage should give City the edge against the Merseyside outfit and they are strongly fancied to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

The FA Cup is the fourth competition on the agenda for City this season and the bookies rate them as favourites to win it for the seventh time.

City last lifted the trophy in 2018/19 and have subsequently lost in the semi-finals in each of the past three seasons.

However, given the talent at their disposal, they are more than capable of setting the record straight this time around.

Prediction

Winning the quadruple is a tall order, but City may well achieve the feat if everything falls into place.

However, we fancy them to end the season with three trophies – the Champions League, Premier League and Carabao Cup.
