Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that England’s T20 World Cup winning captain Jos Buttler will make his return to action for the Club on Thursday 1 June against Yorkshire Vikings at Headingley.

Following a short break after returning from the Indian Premier League, Buttler will make his return to action during the Roses clash and will be available for all 10 remaining matches of Lancashire Lightning’s Vitality Blast North Group campaign.

Buttler – who signed a three year contract extension with the Club at the end of last season – would also be available for all knockout stage matches, should Lancashire Lightning qualify.

In 2015, Buttler played a key role on Finals Day as Lancashire Lightning lifted the T20 Blast for the first time at Edgbaston.

Speaking about his return to action, Jos Buttler said: “I’m really looking forward to pulling on the Red Rose once again and representing Lancashire Lightning in this summer’s Vitality Blast.

“To have the opportunity to play so many matches in this year’s Blast is really exciting for me and it’s a chance to really help the team after coming so close in last year’s final.

“It’s always a great feeling to come back and play at Emirates Old Trafford in front of our Members and supporters and it will be great to see some familiar faces in a couple of weeks’ time.”

The 32-year-old’s first home appearance of the Vitality Blast will come at Blackpool CC when Lancashire Lightning take on Worcestershire Rapids on Wednesday 7 June.

He will then play in all four remaining home matches at Emirates Old Trafford as Lightning host Durham, Derbyshire Falcons, Yorkshire Vikings, and Northants Steelbacks in June and July.

Head Coach Glen Chapple also commented on Buttler’s return: “We are thrilled to have Jos available for such a large part of our T20 campaign this summer. It is a huge boost to the squad.

“Jos’ availability will strengthen an already strong batting line-up, whilst his experience as England white-ball captain and a double World Cup winner will be invaluable to have around the dressing room.

“I am sure it is news that will excite our Members and supporters alike and we look forward to welcoming him back into the group next week.”
