This year we’ve had a huge range of new 4K TVs announced by LG, Samsung, Hisense, and more, introducing some incredible new screens that are sharper and more vibrant than ever.

From QD OLED TVs to OLED Evo TVs, and even 8K TVs finding their way into global markets that are bound to be mind-blowing, we’ve never been more excited for the future of the home cinema. So whether you want to know whats the best 32 inch smart TV, or are looking for something with a bit more real estate, you’ve come to the right place.

If, like us, you love a relaxed evening in front of the television, enjoying your favourite movies (whether that’s Lord of the Rings, or The Godfather) but you’re still using an admittedly outdated 1080p LED TV, maybe it’s time you got yourself a new setup to tie the room together.

What’s the difference between 1080p and 4K?

4K TV screens have been around for over ten years now, and they’re a mainstay in a lot of people’s homes across the world. 4K TV screens have 4x the pixels of a standard 1080p screen, but why is this important?

The greater the pixel density, the sharper the image is. This means that images on a 4K screen are massively more detailed and have far greater colour ranges, with some 4K TV models having over one billion different shades of colour, so your movies will never look better.

What’s OLED?

OLED, or Organic Light Emitting Diode, are diodes that do not require a lighting panel behind the screen itself to produce images. As such there is no delay between the light contacting the diode, so refresh rates are incredibly quick, and the overall TV can be much thinner.

What are the best-looking films in 4K?

We can’t recommend the 4K transfer of The Revenant enough, it’s absolutely stunning and is a great way to break in your new TV.

If you’re an animal-lover, you’ve got to check out Seven Worlds One Planet, a collection of David Attenborough’s documentaries over the years in native 4K. It’s seriously stunning, and simply cannot look better in 4K.

LG OLED C1

One of the finest OLED TVs available this year, LG’s OLED C1 is impeccably sharp, vibrant, and is bound to dazzle you while watching your favourite movies.

As with LG’s smart TVs, it’s brimming with smart features including Alexa, Google Voice, as well as all-round access to streaming services and apps like YouTube, Spotify, and more.

OLED technology is a recent development that has become increasingly more affordable, offering incredible refresh rates so you won’t have any syncing issues while enjoying your 4K Blu Rays in all of their glory.

One of the most impressive features of the C1, however, is its ultra-thin screen and tiny bezels, thanks to that incredible OLED tech, it’s a real showstopper.

SAMSUNG UE43AU7100KXXU

It’s cheap and cheerful, but this 43” Samsung TV can’t be knocked for its value. An incredibly solid 4K screen, a decent screen size, and all the bonuses of Samsung’s amazing UI.

There are no fancy bells or whistles, instead you get a very solid screen that’s bound to blow you away.

Plus, if you’re looking to go a little bigger, there are a range of sizes to choose from, all the way up to 85”.

Samsung 55 Inch S95B QD OLED 4K HDR Smart TV

No ‘Top TVs for Movie Lovers’ list is complete without mention of the top runner right now, the Samsung S95B, which is utterly decimating the competition as of this year.

Samsung has combined the stunning detail and brightness of Quantum Dot technology, and the incredible colour range and rapid refresh rates of OLED to bring the television of the future.

The S95B is unmatched for quality and power, offering the most cinematic experience money can buy. It’s a total knockout that’ll make your movies leap off the screen. If you can spare no expense, we cannot recommend Samsung’s S95B enough.
