In defiance of the rain that had covered the North West during the afternoon, Belle Vue’s decision to anticipate the evenings sunny skies was rewarded with a triumphant 62-28 win over Peterborough.

In an action-packed night of racing in Manchester, the Rentruck Aces thrived in conditions and took full advantage of their track knowledge to gain an early advantage that left the Panthers chasing.

The visitors, though pushing hard, lacked the momentum of their rivals at the National Speedway Stadium and failed to gain any significant ground after falling short in the first few heats.

They came to within two points of the Rentruck Aces in Heat 4, before the home team really started to assert their dominance and build an advantage that would never be challenged.

Skipper Max Fricke, who pocketed yet another paid 15-point maximum said: “It’s good to see everyone banging in so many big scores, as we should with the number of strong riders we have.

“We’re a good team and there’s no reason why we can’t keep doing that week in, week out. We’ve had a lot of rain over the past few days, so we were really lucky to be able to get this meeting on.

“It was nice for me to come away with a maximum, but even better for everyone to get in a few laps. We’ve had a bit of a quiet spell this last week, so it felt good to get the bikes back on the track.

“Peterborough pushed us hard. They’ve got some good guys in their team but unfortunately for them, not all of them were on form and that was something we took full advantage of in the end.”

The Rentruck Aces head to Swindon next Monday, June 17, after which the Cool Running Colts host the Kent Kings at home next Thursday, June 20, in the National League Knock Out Cup.
