Belle Vue Colts head to Eastbourne on Saturday, April 28 for a replay of their 2017 National League title decider against the Forman IT Eagles where they will be tracking a full-strength team.

The Cool Running Colts have made a strong start to the new campaign, triumphing in the Knock Out Cup Quarter Final against the Buxton Hitmen and currently sit at the top of the league table.

They are riding the crest of a wave following their recent KOC exploits and have their sights set on, at minimum, taking a league point as they aim for a consecutive win away from home.

Club No.4 Joe Lawlor said: “It’s going to be a tough meeting. Eastbourne are a very strong team, especially on their home track so we’ll need to be on form if we want to make an impact on them.

“Their reserves are capable riders and Jason Edwards, on his day, can score double figures. But as long as our guys score their average and we all put in 100 percent we stand a good chance.

“At minimum, we want to take at least a point from Arlington. We’re at the top of the table so far with Eastbourne right on our tail so there’s a bit at stake for both clubs come Saturday night.

“We’ve made a good start to the season and we want to keep that momentum going. There is a certain expectation of of us to perform like champions but that is pressure we’re relishing.”

Current speedway world champion, Jason Doyle, is in town on April 30 when the Rentruck Aces tackle the Somerset Rebels while the Cool Running Colts head home to face Plymouth on May 2.
