An independent high street in Chorlton is hosting its first community flower festival designed to celebrate the start of summer.

Beech Road in Bloom will be a three day celebration of botanicals in all their forms and will take place from from Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May.

Shops, bars and restaurants on the popular road have been busily planting flowers ahead of the event, transforming the road into a riot of colour.

Visitors can take part in a host of special events taking place over the three day weekend, including:

  • Paper flower garland/flower making craft stations led by The Curious Fox

  • Make your own wildflower seed bombs with the team at We Are Adventurers

  • Flower face painting at Nood boutique / Pottery Corner

  • Flower planting outside Mediterranean restaurant Zitano

  • The Library will be hosting their first botanical gin-tasting festival with local producers popping in over the weekend

  • Creative Recycling will be unveiling Tree Rings, a community art project and hosting a pop up cafe

  • Ludo cafe will be sampling Flora Teas™ – a range of hand-tied individual first-pick tea tips (Green tea) that are blooming lovely!

  • The ever-popular May Markets will take place outside The Horse and Jockey along with live music on the terrace on Saturday.

  • The Bowling Green will be throwing a ‘Famous Bank Holiday Disco’ from 8pm till late on Sunday

Profits made from donations for activities are to raise money for Beech Road Park. The traders are working with the Friends of the Park to improve lighting in the park to increase the accessibility for all the local community.
