Summer may be over but East Lancashire Railway has a host of events on offer this Autumn full of family fun, with lots of exciting things to see and do during October half term.
There is a whole heap of autumnal treats available at the heritage railway including much loved children’s adventure days, spooky ghost trains and jaw dropping LEGO creations on display.
Northern Brickworks LEGO Club
Bury Transport Museum is excited to welcome back the Northern Brickworks LEGO User Group for a day of jaw dropping displays.
Master builders will be setting up some of their most sensational creations within the museum’s main hall. Guests can explore the delightful little worlds they have created, full of intricate details and admire the larger displays on show.
Highlights include flowers, space crafts, trains, fairgrounds and even Rochdale Town Hall. Guests will also have the opportunity to build their own creations with the help and guidance of true LEGO experts.
The Northern Brickworks LEGO club is taking place Saturday 24th September, standard museum entry applies.
Halloween Ghost Trains
The Halloween Ghost Train is returning to haunt the heritage railway, families who are brave enough to climb aboard the real heritage steam train will make new freaky friends including Count Brian the Vampire, Veronica the Witch, Bob the Zombie and lots more creepy critters that need help to break a terrible curse.
Guests can show off their best fancy dress and join in a singalong of spine chilling songs with the tuneful terrors.
More frightful fun is on offer across the road at the Bury Transport Museum where families will find a Carn-Evil that’s home to a haunted cottage and a host of rides including the Dragon Coaster, the Spooky Sizzler Twist and many more family friendly rides.
The Ghost Trains will take place on Thursday 27th, Friday 28th & Saturday 29th of October. Cann-Evil tickets can be added separately at checkout.
A Day Out With Thomas
Thomas the Tank Engine, everyone’s favourite little blue engine, is set to return this October following sell out events earlier in the year.
Guests can ride behind Sodor’s number one tank engine on a ride that explores the routes of the ELR between Bury and Ramsbottom.
There will be live entertainment all day at the Bury Transport Museum, just across the road from the station. Activities include sing-a-longs with Sodor’s cheeky station sweepers Rusty & Dusty, balloon modelling, a magician, fun fair rides and face painting.
A Day Out With Thomas will take place on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd of October.
Wizards’ Academy
The Wizarding Adventure is an interactive day out for all aspiring witches and wizards. After selling out earlier on in the year, the adventure day returns to be a place for magicians of all abilities to gather and enjoy mastering their wand waving, improving their broomstick skills and defeating evil forces. Alongside the wizard themed activities and photo opportunities, the train journey will take guests on a two-hour train experience with the region’s best enchanters.
The Wizarding Adventure will take place on Sunday 9th October.
