Andy Burnham has pledged not to call an early general election if he becomes PM

According to an exclusive from Bloomberg his spokesperson says he is ruling out a snap election

It means he’d likely govern to 2029 if he successfully challenges Starmer this summer

The move by his campaign to end speculation about an early vote comes after reports in recent days that he’s been considering it

Nigel Farage on the campaign trail is calling Makerfield ‘the biggest by-election since 1964.’ Says ‘it will be nip and tuck’ and that if Burnham wins, he ‘will probably become the PM by September or October’:

‘He has U-turned more in the last few weeks than Starmer has done in the last few years.’

The candidates are set to appear on BBC’s Question Time on Thursday night.

The show will feature Andy Burnham Michael Winstanley, Jake Austin, Sarah Wakefield, and Robert Kenyon
