A 27-year-old man has been jailed for nearly four years for his involvement in running a national drugs line.

Mathias Akinyemi aged 27 of Ardwick Green North in Manchester was convicted of possession of criminal cash, and possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, cocaine and cannabis.

Akinyemi came to the attention of police after he was identified through intelligence that linked him to a national county lines operation, shipping drugs in bulk and in smaller amounts across the country.

Police carried out a search warrant at Akinyemi’s address on Ardick Green North in October last year.

Inside they found a number of controlled drugs, the remnants of what appeared to be plant growing equipment in the attic and bundles of cash.

A quantity of cannabis was recovered with an estimated street worth of £25,000. Officers also found a block of cocaine stuffed inside a sock and hidden in the toilet which was estimated to be worth £30,000 on the streets of Manchester.

Taking into account the drugs, cash and assets, the total value of goods seized amounted to £100,000.

PC Haydn Cross of GMP Challenger Organised Crime Team said: “The jail sentence that’s been secured as a result of this investigation should serve as a stark warning to other county lines offenders. Greater Manchester Police takes a zero-tolerance approach and is relentless in its pursuit of those involved in serious organised crime.”
