Andy Burnham will chair the first meeting of the revived “National Economic Council” at No 10 North, which will bring together “senior ministers and regional mayors to put devolution at the centre of the Government’s mission to make Britain better”
“It will be the situation room for making Britain better – the place we use to get power out of Westminster, into the hands of people at a local level, so they can turn things around”
It was announced yesterday that Angela Rayner, Lucy Powell and Louise Haigh will all work from No 10 North in the Manchester
Andy Burnham will also work from No 10 North at least once a week as he still intends to live in Manchester
Whitehall civil servants have been offered relocation packages to encourage them to move
Its longer term base will be Manchester’s new Government Digital Campus in Ancoats the site of the former Central Retail Park but it’s not expected to open until 2032
