Striker Jack Redshaw has agreed a two-year deal with the club.
The forward put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the National League North side on Saturday afternoon.
The 26-year-old Salford born forward started out with Manchester City’s academy side at the age of 9 and signed his first professional contract with them in 2008. Two years later he joined Rochdale where he made 3 first team appearance before reaching a mutual agreement to cancel his contract in January 2011.
Jack’s father, Ray, had been a professional footballer himself and had spent some time with Salford City. In March 2011 Jack signed on at Moor Lane for the first time and made his Ammies’ debut as one of four substitutes fielded during a 3-1 defeat at Chester’s Deva Stadium.
Rochdale manager Keith Hill told the clubs website:
“I’m sure he’ll be a massive success for Salford, but from my perspective, it’s a shame that he’s not playing league football, but I’m sure he will be one day with Salford.
“He’ll score loads of goals for Salford, who are a growing outfit. I’m sure their aim is to get into the EFL, and they’ve got a chance to do that with the likes of Jack Redshaw playing for them.
“As I said, I think that Jack’s still a football league player, but he’s done the right thing for himself and his family.”
