Located within the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, the market town of Ramsbottom is a beautiful, relaxed place to visit. Noted as one of the best places to live in the UK by The Sunday Times in 2019.

Located on the River Irwell and in the West Pennine Moors Ramsbottom was a manufacturing and mill town during the 19th century as the water supply prompted Sir Robert Peel to purchase land there in the 18th century laying the foundation for the development during the industrial revolution.

There are a wealth of dining and drinking options within the town and we start our guide in a classic British pub. The Major ticks all the boxes that you would suspect. An excellent selection of ales, all your favourite pub classics on the menu, pool and darts all on offer within the cosy comforting atmosphere. A great spot for a family drink and a pub lunch after a long walk or a night watching the football with some bar snacks.

If you’re in the area and are a beer drinker the Irwell Works Brewery is a place to stop off at. Serving locally produced, award-winning ales a true taste of the region is on offer here with an outside seating terrace to watch over the town as you enjoy a drink.
