Opened door of hotel room with key in the lock

After challenging trading conditions over the past three years, the hotels industry has seen a vast improvement in demand over the last few weeks across Manchester.

The Manchester Hoteliers Association (MHA), a non-profit organisation of the key hotels within the city centre and the Greater Manchester area, has sighted the recent influx of concerts, festivals, and sporting events as the cause. Huge stadium and arena gigs from the likes of Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, P!nk, and Elton John have seen hundreds of thousands come to the city.

The Lowry Hotel, amongst other hotels who are members of the MHA, have recorded huge demand and are gearing up for a huge summer in Manchester, which will see tourism levels reaching a firm high.

Adrian Ellis, General Manager of The Lowry Hotel and Chair of the MHA, said: “Our members are delighted by the positive period of sales that we’ve recently seen and are welcoming the improvement with open arms.

“After a tough period for all in hospitality, it’s great to see the city bustling again and the positive effect this has had on our hotels. Above all, the period of stagnancy is testament to the resilient nature of the hoteliers industry and our ability to bounce back. We’re looking forward to welcoming an influx of guests this summer from near and far.”

The positive period and high footfall continued over the weekend as Parklife and Soccer Aid took over the city with a huge crowd expected to stay for the Manchester City treble winning open top bus parade and plans organised for the upcoming Manchester Day. Hotel occupancy percentages are expected to hit the high 80s by the end of June.
