Bolton Boss Ian Evatt praised his side’s continued recovery as Wanderers racked up another big win to move into the top six
The Whites’ commanding 4-1 victory at Stevenage made it six wins from eight league games since a 4-0 home defeat at home to Huddersfield in mid-September left Wanderers in the bottom four.
They’ve barely looked back since, with a fourth away win of the campaign taking them up to sixth place in the League One table.
Goals from Ricardo Almeida Santos, John McAtee, Victor Adeboyejo and substitute Dion Charles equalled Wanderers’ biggest win of the season, with a hamstring injury to captain Eoin Toal the only negative of the night at Broadhall Way.
Meanwhile Stockport County began a sequence of six scheduled home matches in all competitions with a pulsating and rampant victory under the Edgeley Park lights against in-form Reading.
The re-arranged league game – and first meeting with the ‘Royals’ in 26 years – produced a glut of first-half goals, beginning with a strike from the returning Will Collar that was countered by a Reading equaliser, before Kyle Wootton’s header and top scorer Louie Barry’s third penalty of the month put County in charge at the break.
Barry added his second and the Hatters’ fourth midway through the second half to complete the ideal response to a disappointing defeat at Lincoln three days earlier
In League Two Salford City made it four games unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two thanks to an emphatic stoppage time equaliser by Frankie Okoronkwo in a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood
Manager Karl Robinson reflected on his sides improved second half performance to earn a point against Fleetwood Town.
“I think our play deserved that. I thought we had to make changes at half time even though we weren’t that bad, I didn’t feel like we had any rhythm like we did the other day.”
“In the second half the players came out and looked like a team possessed. We kept believing, I thought we stayed incredibly calm and I’m really happy with how we finished. To get a goal late on, it was well deserved.”
