A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being assaulted in Ashton under Lyne on Saturday night
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives believe this incident on Broakoak Road to be isolated with no wider threat to the community at this time.
Officers are now asking for anyone with any information in relation to the incident to please come forward.
Detective Inspector Christopher Dean, from GMP’s Tameside district, said: “We are seeking anyone who has information about this incident to please get in touch. This sort of violence has no place on our streets and officers are investigating this incident as we work to seek justice for the victim.
