A seventy six year old man has died after being hit by a car driven by a drink driver on Hall Street in Stockport yesterday evening

Yes The thirty five year old driver of the silver Ford Focus was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drug driving and drink driving. He remains in custody for questioning.

Hall Street was closed whilst investigation work was carried out but has since reopened.

Police Sergeant Darren Hancock, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has tragically lost his life as a result of this collision and we have specialist officers supporting his family.

“We know the Ford Focus travelled South East along Hall Street before it was involved in this collision and we’re appealing to anyone who saw the car in the area beforehand to get in touch.

“Whilst we have a man in custody, I’d also ask any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to call police as soon as possible so we can piece together the full circumstances surrounding this collision.”
