Bolton Council has launched a consultation on proposals for Farnworth’s town centre masterplan.
New proposals to redevelop Farnworth town centre for future generations include creating new homes, opening a new community hub in the heart of the town centre, and improving connectivity to Farnworth Park.
Other suggestions include exploring alternative uses for publicly owned buildings and bringing library services into the heart of the town centre.
The initial concepts have been drawn up by urban regeneration specialists BDP.
Eight drop-in events will also be held at the shop unit at 14 Brackley Street, Farnworth.
Representatives from BDP will attend sessions on January 17 (10am to 1pm) and January 19 (11am to 2pm).
Residents can also come along on: noon to 3pm on January 22; 10.30am to 2.30pm on January 23; 11am to 2pm on January 26, 10am to noon and 5.30pm to 7pm on January 29; 10.30am to 2.30pm on January 30, and 11am to 2pm on February 1.
People can fill in an online questionnaire here:

Paper questionnaires will also be available in locations throughout Farnworth and Kearsley, including: 14 Brackley Street, Farnworth and New Bury UCAN Centres, Farnworth Library, the Age UK Resource Centre on Cross Street, and Farnworth and Kearsley leisure centres.

The original designs followed six months of community engagement with residents, councillors, businesses and partners to understand the needs and wishes of the local community.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Cllr Ebrahim Adia, said: “We want people to have their say – come along to the consultation events or fill in the questionnaire.
“Again, we want to reassure people that at this stage these are initial options and we will listen to what emerges through a consultation with residents, businesses and partners.”
Bolton Council and BDP will analyse the feedback from the public consultation and review the proposals considering the comments received.
The team will also look in more detail at the delivery of the proposals before a final masterplan for the town centre will be produced for formal approval by the Council.
The findings will be used to shape a final masterplan document in Spring 2019.
