A man has been arrested following a City Centre knife attack earlier this week

The arrest follows a fight between two men where one was armed with a weapon, believed to be a large knife, at Corporation Street in Manchester City Centre.

One man received minor injuries.

A 49-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and is currently in police custody for questioning.

Detective Constable Daniel Mather of GMP’s City of Manchester Central division said:

“Firstly, I’d like to thank the public for sharing information with us direct following the incident which happened in broad daylight in a busy area of our city earlier this week.

“We want to reassure the public our investigation has led to an arrest in what we believe is a targeted attack.

“Information and details can still be shared with us direct as our enquiries continue, but we are aware of a video being circulated on social media and would urge the public from sharing this further.
