Former Masterchef winner Simon Wood has sparked a debate on social media after he called out a customer at this City Centre restaurant who complained about being charged for butter on their cheeseboard
Wood posted on Twitter
“Why do people expect restaurants to just give food away?
And I mean at any point, never mind in the current economic climate….
If you order something that is or isn’t on the menu (as is the case here) it’s chargeable,
I don’t think that’s unreasonable”
Restauranteur Simon Connolly agreed
“ I got a scathing email recently because we didn’t give free stuff to a couple who got married a few weeks before (it was from mother of bride). The expectations of giveaway items is getting out of hand.
Fully agree that butter should be nowhere near a cheeseboard.”
He has since put a poll up on the twitter asking people whether butter should come with a cheeseboard
