A 47-year-old man has been arrested this morning, on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody for questioning following the shooting of a women in Stockport on Tuesday morning.

The 46 year old women was taken to hospital serious abdominal injuries where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Miller, Territorial Commander of GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “We have one man in custody but our investigation continues as we follow a number of lines of enquiry.

“We believe this was an isolated incident that poses no threat to the wider public however, we have increased patrols in the area and encourage anyone with concerns to approach an officer.

“I would urge anyone who may have been staying at the hotel or was in the area at the time to contact us. Anything that you know, no matter how insignificant it seems, may prove to be vital.”
