A women was sexually assaulted in Bredbury in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 42-year-old was walking on Field Street, a pedestrianised alleyway that runs between Higher Bents Lane and Goyt Crescent around 1.00am on when she was approached by a man, who grabbed her before sexually assaulting her.

She fled the scene and made her way back to her home address, and the police were called.

She is currently being provided with support from specially trained officers.

The offender is described as being white, tall, very slim and aged approximately 20. He was wearing light jogging bottoms and spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable Matt Croy, of GMP’s Stockport District, said: “Understandably, this incident will cause concern in the local community but I want to reassure residents that we are working to find the person responsible for this terrible act. However, we are now asking for the public’s help to do this.

“If you think that you might have any information that can assist us in finding the offender then please contact police.

“No detail is too small so if you think you know something then please do not hesitate to contact us.”
