A twenty four year old man was robbed and left with head injuries in Rochdale in the early hours of Saturday morning after he entered a takeaway on Oldham Road seeking shelter.

He was taken to hospital with head injuries and is currently in a serious condition and his injuries have the potential to be life changing.

Detectives are currently trawling through CCTV for any evidence.It is believed the victim was at the cash point next to the Cask and Feather pub on Drake Street when the robbery happened.

Eyewitnesses have reported seeing three Asian men, all wearing dark clothing, one between the ages of 17 and 20, in the area, and police are keen to speak to them in connection with incident.

Detective Sergeant Kim Hines from GMP’s Rochdale borough said: “We have a man in hospital with very serious injuries, and we are determined to find the people involved. This is an unprovoked attack and officers are working tirelessly to identify the suspects”

“My thoughts are with him and his family; I hope he is able to make a full recovery.

“It was early in the morning when this incident happened but there were people around who were returning from nights out and using the takeaways.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this horrific robbery to get in touch as soon as possible.

“We cannot let violent offenders like this get away with leaving someone with injuries that could affect them for the rest of their lives.”
