Greater Manchester Police launched a pilot in the City of Manchester for Restorative Justice referrals to be made for domestic abuses cases – a process which allows the opportunity for positive communication between the victims of crime and their perpetrators.

Independent theatre group 53Two launched its brand-new bar and arts hub. The 150 capacity 53Two Bar occupies one of the historic, Grade II listed arches beneath Manchester Central on Watson Street where the 53Two team have created a unique and beautiful new space for the city to drink, chat, create, work and hang out.

A Wythenshawe ballet star who didn’t think he could become a dancer because of his skin colour began using his experience to help break down barriers in dance. Isaac Bowry, 25, made his professional debut as Romeo in a Ballet Theatre UK production of Romeo and Juliet in 2016 and went on to dance in Matthew Bourne’s genderbending Swan Lake, which swapped out female swans in tutus for bare chested male swans.

A local favourite for well over a century, Salford’s historic Black Friar Pub revealed it was set to reopen its doors after 15 years with a bang in July, with a new interior, a new team and a new menu.

A striking new work of street art, by AkseP19, was unveiled by Manchester Originals ahead of the launch of the brand-new sports competition, The Hundred. The imagery on Barlow Hall Road, Chorlton, created by legendary Manchester graffiti artist AkseP19, shows two of the international stars who will be turning out for Manchester Originals in this year’s competition.

 

Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University launched ‘All Eyes On You’, a vast digital exhibition celebrating the work and achievements of graduating students.

The largest Danish retailer operating globally, JYSK, revealed it was set to open two new stores within the Greater Manchester region as part of its ambitious UK expansion plans.
