An 18-year-old woman cyclist has died after an accident involving a lorry yesterday in Salford yesterday afternoon

The accident happened on the Eccles Old Road around 3.50pm

A 18-year was trapped under the lorry and was freed by the Fire Service. She was taken to hospital where she sadly died.

Road closures were put in place on Eccles Old Road, Lancaster Road and Stott Lane.

Collision investigators are now appealing to the public for information.

Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic set of circumstances that have sadly taken the life of a woman and our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly difficult time.

“It happened at a busy time of day when people may have been around and I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time that may have witnesses this collision to contact us.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.”
