One hundred and twenty men had so far passed through it . The hospital contained thirty beds, the bar had been converted into a pharmacy, the only trace of its former use, an advertisement for a well known brand of whisky.
The price of gas was going up in Manchester as a result of the war.The main problem was a shortage of coal with so many tricks being used for the transport of munitions, supplies from the coal face were getting inadequate.
