Manchester’s rapidly expanding co-working operator, Colony, has announced a ’synergetic’ partnership with Manchester Young Professionals that brings together two of the city’s most exciting communities of creators, workers and entrepreneurs.

The alliance will see Colony – which now has five flexible workspaces across the city – host a programme of annual events and monthly co-working days for MYP’s network of young entrepreneurial minds, becoming official networking and co-working partners to one another.

Colony launched its first flexi and co-working space at Jactin House, Ancoats, in 2017, and has expanded its portfolio to include four additional locations, including Piccadilly and most recently Colony Flint Glass Works in Ancoats, with two more spaces in the works.

MYP was established by friends Rich Tyrrell and Andrew Bennie in 2013 and has grown its reputation over the decade as a network of progressive, like-minded professionals in their 20s and 30s with frequent meet ups at some of the city’s most popular venues.

Colony Operations Director, Becca McKeown, said: “Colony prides itself on being a Manchester workspace provider with community at the heart of what we do, and we create spaces that both inspire and facilitate that. So, when MYP approached us to work with them, it presented a natural partnership founded on the same, shared desire to bring people together.

“Colony is about allowing members to find their fit, by providing a whole mix of desk and office space to meet the needs of both start-up and established businesses, individuals and freelancers who want to work alongside, meet and socialise with other people in energetic, collaborative spaces where ideas can pollinate, and their companies can grow. Bringing MYP, an established Manchester based network, into that makes perfect sense and we are thrilled to work alongside and collaborate with them to provide their network, and ours, with an enhanced events programme, new faces for their community, outs, and new co-working opportunities.”

Richard Tyrrell, Manchester Young Professionals Director, said: “We are excited to announce Colony as the MYP co-working partner for 2023. Whilst events are the main way the MYP community connects with one another, having the kind of space Colony provides, where people can connect further and work together, simply adds to our community connections.

“This, a space to connect with MYP friends outside events, is something our community has been asking us for. We know, too, that some might not have an office desk five days a week, and may prefer not to work from home, or simply enjoy working with people they know in a new space that provides all the energy of a vibrant, modern space.

“The community that Colony has curated across their multiple sites is aligned with the MYP community values and this opportunity to further connect with others will only enhance our growing community.”

Colony will work as MYP’s exclusive co-working partner with MYP business based from Colony One on Silk Street, Ancoats. MYP will host four events, annually, at Colony locations across Manchester and will run monthly co-working days for members from Colony spaces, too. An exclusive launch discount for Colony membership will also be made available to MYP members.

Colony sites include phone booths, co-working lounges, social kitchens, Zoom rooms, floating meeting rooms and both floating and permanent desk space for individuals and businesses, which is why the brand frequently finds itself on ‘best co-working spaces’ lists.
