Five giant pandas will be in Albert Square on Wednesday to meet the Lord Mayor and take over Manchester to celebrate Earth Hour, the world’s biggest call to action to protect the planet.

As part of WWF’s Earth Hour tour, which is travelling across the country, The pandas will make their way across Manchester, starting at Manchester Cathedral, stopping of at various landmarks and passing through the shopping mall before ending at the Manchester’s Town Hall to meet and pose for photos with Lord Mayor, Councillor Susan Cooley.

The Earth Hour tour kicks-off in Newcastle tomorrow and will be traveling across the country stopping at key Earth Hour cities to inspire businesses, schools and individuals to sign up to Earth Hour and help protect our planet.

The north west is a key area for Earth Hour with the Blackpool Tower and Old Trafford already signed up to take part in the inspiring global event, as well as hundreds of local individuals, schools and businesses.
