The woman, who is believed to be in her 60s has been killed after being hit by a motorcyclist in Burnage last night.

The woman was crossing Kingsway, close to the junction with Burnage Hall Road around 11.30 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 40-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and he remains there for treatment.

Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The investigation team are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the motorcycle in the moments leading up to the collision.

Police Constable Philip Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost I want to extend my most sincere condolences to the family of the woman who passed away following the collision on Kingsway in Burnage last night.

“They are understandably devastated by their loss and we are providing them with support from specially trained officers at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have information regarding the collision or the circumstances leading up to it to please come forward.

“Our team are particularly interested to speak with anyone who may have seen the motorcycle in the moments leading up to the collision.”
