The Conservative MP for Hazel Grove William Wragg has announced that he is standing down at the next election
In a statement Wragg said
“It is a privilege to be the Member of Parliament for Hazel Grove. I have made the decision not to stand at the next election. I shall continue to represent constituents to the best of my ability in the meantime and thank everyone for their wonderful support over the years.”
Wragg was a strong critic of Boris Johnson,calling for him on a number of occasions to stand down
He was also a critic of many of the COVID regulations
Wragg is the Conservative select committee chair and 1922 vice-chairman
He ha held the constituency of Hazel Grove since 2015 after taking the seat from the Liberal Democrats to become the first Tory MP since 1997
