Three goals in fifteen first half minutes helped Salford City to the top spot in the National League North as the Ammies beat Alfreton Town 4-1

Goals from Mike Phenix, Jordan Hulme and Simon Grand inside the first half hour swept the visitors aside while Matt Warburton put the Reds four nil ahead with twenty minutes left.

A brace of Tom Greaves goals and a second half winner from substitute Jason Gilchrist saw FC United take all three points at Boston who twice levelled through Agnew from the penalty spot and Rollins before half time

The new management duo of Paul Phillips and Steve Halford got off to a disastrous start at Bowyer Field as Stalybridge suffered a 4-0 defeat to Nuneaton.Elliot Whitehouse giving the visitors the lead after 20 minutes but two goals either side of half time from Kevin Longmead put the game out of reach of Celtic.

Fellow Tamesiders Curzon Ashton’s last-gasp penalty saw them share the points at Harrogate. Two goals in six first half minutes from Jon Pitman put the home side in command but Matthew Flynn kept Curzon in the game with a strike ten minutes from half-time before Tom Platt felled Joe Guest in the area and Cummings converted the subsequent penalty in the dying minutes.

Two goals in the last quarter of an hour  gave victory to Stockport County in their short trip to Altrincham.

Goals by Michael Clarke, by Scott Spencer and, four minutes from time, by Chris Smalley,cancelled out first-half strikes for the hosts from James Lawrie and Sean Miller at Moss Lane.

It was FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round day and both Ashton and Mossley crashed out.

Mossley 7-2 away at North West Counties Ashton Athletic in one of the shock results of the round while Tameside’s Ashton fell at home to fellow Premier League side Nantwich Town.

Cheadle Town’s fairytale came to an end with a 5-2 defeat at Trafford, a Mark Derbyshire hat trick finishing the hopes of the minnows, while Radcliffe Borough hopes of a cup run ended in a 5-3 home defeat by Premier League  side Spennymoor Town with seven goals coming in an enthralling second half after the visitors keeper had scored directly from a clearance in the first half.

Hindle equalised for Boro earlier in the second half before two goals in four minutes put Spennymoor 3-1 ahead. Rokka pulled one back for Boro before two more goals from the visitors sealed the game with a quarter of an hour left.

Finally Droylsden lost their second successive league game at Ramsbottom. An early goal from Steve Lewis put the Bloods ahead but strikes from Myers, Seddon and Meany put the Rams in front before a second from Lewis on the stroke of full time.
