programme of exhibitions and events featuring the outstanding visual arts being created here in Trafford and Greater Manchester.

This Summer Waterside will come alive with creativity as the venue is filled with high quality, locally-made visual arts. With exhibitions in the Lauriston and Gallery ’74, as well as a one-day craft fair, visitors will be able to enjoy work on display by local artists, designers and makers and have the opportunity to buy many of these beautiful artworks.

Opening on Saturday 01 July is the Manchester Made exhibition in Waterside’s Lauriston Gallery. Featuring artworks by 40 Greater Manchester artists and makers, this selling exhibition will display two and three dimensional art and craft, including ceramics, glass, print and sculpture. All work has been selected following an open call out, with the jury comprising of Ann-Marie Franey and Victoria Scholes, organisers of the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, and exhibition Curator Michelle Keeling.

Also opening on the same day is Li / Lu – a solo exhibition by Manchester-based fine artist, Sam Owen Hull in Gallery ’74. Sam is a contemporary artist working in Manchester. Her work is an intuitive response to her world view and the increasing polarisation of society; she uses the areas between surface and space, working at the intersection of painting and sculpture, fine art and craft.

Waterside Arts and Creative Industries Trafford have also worked in partnership with Jo Lavelle, Co-Founder of Sale Arts Trail, to present Manchester Made Craft Fair on Saturday 22 July- a one day selected tabletop fair of high-quality contemporary craft.

Michelle Keeling, Curator for the programme says: “The exhibitions highlight the diverse range of creativity alive in Greater Manchester. We had a fantastic response to the open call out and Manchester Made really shines a light on the abundance of talented artists in the area. The craft fair will be a wonderful opportunity for people to browse and buy artworks and support local artists”

The exhibitions run from Saturday 01 July to Saturday 09 September in the Lauriston Gallery and in Gallery ’74 at Waterside and are free entry. Open Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 17:00.
