31 people have been arrested in connection with 72 crimes during a month of action in North Manchester.

Operation Rockwell is dedicated to arresting suspects wanted on suspicion of various crimes including, but not limited to, false imprisonment, assault and rape.

Inspector Michelle Buchanan, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “This was a successful month of action. Several people have been charged and several more have been released on bail or under investigation whilst enquiries are ongoing.

“We hope this news builds public trust and confidence that Greater Manchester Police is focussed on fighting, preventing and reducing crime whilst keeping people safe and caring for victims. A number of the crimes under Operation Rockwell are domestic so I also hope this reiterates the force’s commitment to ensuring a robust response to incidents of this kind.

“I would like to use this opportunity to say that Operation Rockwell doesn’t stop here. Though 31 have been arrested, enquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest a number of other suspects who are wanted in connection with various other crimes.”
